Report: Sox make Hank a Member

Red Sox ownership has granted new Yankees boss Hank Steinbrenner membership into Red Sox Nation, Sox principal owner John Henry confirmed in an e-mail to the Boston Herald.

I'm a big Hank fan," Henry wrote to the Herald. "Just to ensure he knows how cool Red Sox Nation is, [Saturday] we officially inducted him as a member of Red Sox Nation and we are sending him his membership card giving him access to an array of options including our newsletter, bumper stickers, pins, Green Monster seats and a hat personally autographed by David Ortiz."

Steinbrenner drew the ire of Sox fans everywhere this week with a quote that appeared in Sunday's New York Times' Play magazine.

"Red Sox Nation? What a bunch of [expletive] that is," Steinbrenner told the magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans.Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."

Here in Austin, Texas I see many, many more Red Sox hats and other stuff than I do Yankees stuff, I would say somewhere in the range of 4 to 1. I see more Cubs stuff than I do Yankees stuff around here. I would say the Yankees stuff ranks behind the Red Sox, Cubs, Cards and Astros. this part is Texas is NOT Yankees country.

I live in Charlotte North Carolina, and this may be because of the banks, but I see way more Red Sox stuff than anything else. I do see Yankees gear a fair amount down here, but it is no where near the volume of Red Sox stuff. I'm calling bull on so called "Yankee Nation"

go to the red sox game and see Red Sox hats -
wow good thing daddy is rich because with this logic he should be working the counter at the Qik-Mart!!!!!!
But to us life long Sox fans - all the New sox fans are little annoying

It's aggravating that Hank Steinbrenner already has his RSN member package... and I'm still waiting for mine! To quote Prince Hank, "What kind of [expletive] is that?"

I live here in Dallas Texas, and i see about 10 redsoxs hats every day on campus here at the University of North Texas....i see maybe 1 yankee hat every couple of days.......Texas is red sox country!
