Sox fall ... again
Not that spring training games mean much, but the Sox fell to 3-7 with a loss to the Marlins this afternoon. The Marlins scored two runs in the fifth against Craig Hansen, then hit a solo home run and a two-run shot off reliever Mike James, taking the game 5-2 over the Sox. Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth for the Red Sox scoring.
We'll see if we can get some more information on Josh Beckett and his back spasms down in the clubhouse. We're not sure if he's going to speak to the media this afternoon.
Watch out for tomorrow morning's Bartolo Colon outing. He'll throw to live batters for the first time with the Sox. He'll do it early so John Farrell can head across the state to Vero Beach for the game against the Dodgers.

Amalie - please clarify what you said below about the 10 players sent to the minor league camp. You noted that leaves the roster at 46. I thought the roster is max 40 players, and I'll assume none of those gusy sent down who were on the 40 man were dropped off the 40 man. So, is it 46 in major league camp, including non-roster invitees?
Do you know what time and where Colon's outing will be and if it will be open to the public? We're in Ft Myers and we'd love to see it.
Each team has a 40-man roster they can invite players not on the 40-man to spring training, they are labeled as non roster invitees.
The Red Sox invited 16 non-roster players to spring training including Bobby Kielty, Michael Bowden, Bartolo Colon, Justin Masterson and Jed Lowrie.
After cutting 10 today from the 56 players in camp that leaves the team at 46 players.
