Sox go down
JUPITER, Fla. — The Sox lost to the Marlins, 3-2, in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 8,151 at Roger Dean Stadium this afternoon. As expected, the place was packed with citizens of Red Sox Nation. No John Henry, though. The owner has a home nearby, but did not make the trip and sent me an e-mail saying there was too much going on. I'm guessing hedge fund stuff.
Things certainly seem quiet with this team.
Kyle Snyder had three OK innings — two hits and one walk. No runs. Prospect Justin Masterson took the loss, giving up four hits and a walk in two innings. The Sox managed only three hits.
Local fans were disappointed not to see Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Jason Varitek, Julio Lugo, Mike Lowell and J. D. Drew. The only ‘‘regulars’’ who made the trip were Kevin Youkilis (batting cleanup), Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury. The Sox have three games back in Fort Myers in the next three days.

Dan's writing in Extra Bases now? Well thanks for the informative update anyway. I take more stock in rookie spring training performances (especially pitchers) so lets hope Justin, Clay, and Craig can get back on track soon.
