I feel bad for Hansen, He started with so much promise then I think he was rushed now I think may be all screwed up.He seems to be a pretty good guy. After the last Pawsox game he left pissed about not getting a callup,I saw him gettint into his car ,shook his hand & chatted for a couple seconds. Under those conditions [ERIC GAGME} I would probably have not been nice to anybody.
Hansen, I believe, will be fine. Sure he will start the season in Pawtucket, but I believe he will make decent contributions to the big league club this year. I see him attaining a regular middle relief stint this year, possibly being a 6th inning type of guy who can bridge the gap to Okajima and thn Papelbon. My guess is that he will be up for good in late May.
I would rather bring him up and have him
replace Tavarez and let him get his baptism in
the big leagues again..a redundancy, i know.
Hansen is 25 and how much longer can we ask
him to sit in the minors.... they say his fast ball is
straight...too straight for the leagues, but he cannot
stay in the minors forever so I say we fish or cut
bait with this guy and try to trade Julian, Crisp and
maybe even Lugo in a package for a live body,
I do not feel bad in the least. When he was drafted he was declared the most ready draftee, also the person who can make the most difference as soon as possible for the ballclub who drafted him. He has shown promise but has yet to control his command. He made out with over $4 million in his 4 quick years of pitching for the pawsox.
I don't want to hear about conditions when he was drafted on the promise of the present. If it wasn't for the bullpen of 07 he could of been blame for not delivering.
