Bartolo Colon threw 42 pitches in his bullpen session, exclusively fastballs with a few changeups mixed in, and approached 90 miles an hour in his velocity with a few pitches, according to pitching coach John Farrell. "For not being on the mound for 3 1/2 weeks, I thought he threw to both sides of the plate, he got through the glove well with good carry. A very good day for him.''

Farrell said Colon will throw another bullpen Wednesday, and the club will re-evaluate at that stage to see what's next. Another bullpen is likely, than at least one session of batting practice. March 15 is a viable target date, Farrell said, for a game appearance. The Sox play the Cincinnati Reds that day at City of Palms Park.
