0-for-6

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 25, 2008 10:59 PM

David Ortiz is now hitless through 11 innings, as even his (ugly) head-first slide couldn't prevent the 3-6-1 double play that got the Rays out of a pickle in the top of the 11th. It was an impressive move for the Sox' DH, though you have to think Terry Francona was cringing in the dugout as it happened.

Ortiz has had only three games in his career in which he's gone 0-for-6. The last was July 6, 2004 at Fenway Park against Oakland. And the Sox have actually won all three games, all of which came while Ortiz was in a Boston uniform.

Mike Timlin is still on the mound.

  1. I almost think Papi is trying to hard at this point and that's why he's getting all the pop ups. He should relax and just work on getting a hit not try to hit every one over the fence, that will come.
