... and Sean Casey too
... skipped over him in the eighth spot in the first blog post by accident, but he's in there. Right between 'Tek and Lowrie.
As for Julio Lugo, well ...
Terry Francona explains why he went with Jed Lowrie, "I try to pick days for everybody when it seems to makes sense with whose pitching and travel. It's been a little while for Luggy. This will be a good night for Lowrie to play."
Lugo's hitting .271 with a couple RBI, and went 1 for 4 yesterday against the Yankees, but he leads all big league shortstops with six errors and booted attempts in both the Sox past two games.
Lowrie made his big-league debut at third Tuesday against Cleveland, and came in to strictly to play the corner again Wednesday in New York. He's error free (albeit in four chances), plus he busted out with three RBI against Cleveland, the most by a player in his Sox debut since Merrill Combs drove in four against the St. Louis Browns in 1947.
(aside, a note even 10 minutes down the road from the University of Richmond, where Sean Casey -- not to mention Brian Jordan -- used to bash balls, is a little institution by the name of Virginia Commonwealth University, which produced your proud blogger. Small plug. Go Spiders. Go Rams. Back to regularly scheduled programming)
