* Red Sox manager Terry Francona is thrilled to have Mike Lowell back in the lineup tonight. Lowell has been on the disabled list since April 10 with strained ligaments in his left thumb.

* Wonder why Brandon Moss is still around? Jacoby Ellsbury has a sore groin. Francona doesn't expect this to be a long-term thing, but they want to make sure it doesn't turn into something bigger.

*Infielder Alex Cora began his throwing program today and reported he felt great. Francona said by Friday he hopes Cora can throw from 120 feet with some zip.

*Bartolo Colon, who recently threw 35 pitches on the side, will do so again tomorrow. He's still on schedule for a May 5 appearance in a minor league game.

*David Ortiz told Francona he was good to go after taking treatment on his right knee on Monday's offday.
