Big Hurt puts a hurtin' on Sox

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 4, 2008 09:27 PM

TORONTO - The Big Hurt has trouble turning on a fastball at times late in his career, but Manny Delcarmen's 81 mph change-up was not an issue for him in the bottom of the 7th. Thomas knocked in a pair of runs with a double to the left-center field gap to break a 3-all deadlock and give the Jays a 5-3 lead heading into the 8th.

Thomas was ejected in the fourth inning of Thursday's game in New York by umpire Bill Miller for arguing balls and strikes. He had gone 0-for-2 with a walk before striking against Delcarmen, who had induced a pair of foul pop outs to Kevin Youkilis after David Aarsdsma and Javier Lopez had put a pair of runners on base in relief of Tim Wakefield in the bottom of the 7th.
