Casey limping

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 25, 2008 07:45 PM

There's good news and bad news.

Jacoby Ellsbury singled to left field to score Sean Casey, making the score 3-1. But it's not all good. It appeared that Casey might have tweaked something about 40 feet from home plate, after he rounded third. He limped into home plate.

Jed Lowrie has now come out to third base, which means that Kevin Youkilis will shift over to first base.

This isn't good for a team that's short on infielders with Mike Lowell and Alex Cora on the disabled list.

  1. Well, that does stink. Hopefully he won't be out more than this, or a few, games. But on the subject of being short on infielders, and even starting pitching of late, I think this team has shown thus far in the early going that they have more depth than they've had in a long time this year. With Masterston's start the other day, the play of Lowrie, Casey, Coco in a limited role, and Cash, we've done rather well. Add to that Lowell's absence and Papi's early season struggles, as long as we don't lose too many everyday starters or bench players at one time, this team should do very well.
