Central Mass. Day at the Fens

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff April 25, 2008 08:11 AM

The Sox announced they're holding Central Massachusetts Day at Fenway Park on May 18, when they face the Milwaukee Brewers in interleague play.

Tickets for Central Massachusetts Day at Fenway Park will soon be available for purchase by residents of Central Massachusetts. Since there are a limited number of tickets available, applicants must fill out and submit a registration form to participate in this opportunity to purchase.

Registration begins at 12:00 noon.today and closes at noon next Monday. The Red Sox will then conduct a random selection of winners from the pool of registrants. The winners will have the opportunity to purchase up to four (4) tickets at face value for the Red Sox-Brewers game at 1:35 p.m. ET on May 18. One hundred winners will be selected.

In order to be eligible for this opportunity, fans must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and a resident of Central Massachusetts at the time of entry. Limit one entry per person.

To register, go to Redsox.com and click on the Tickets tab.

Central Mass., of course, has been home to such Globies past and present as Gammons, Barnicle, Shaughnessy and Edes. There is some evidence that WEEI regular and ProJo baseball writer Sean McAdam may reside in Central Mass., too, depending on who's drawing the boundaries.

  1. So, exactly what are the boundaries of "Central Mass."?

As a resident of Western Massachusetts, is Holyoke, Chicopee and Springfield, etc. considered Central Mass, and Pittsfield, and North Adams considered Western Mass?

Since, apparently most Boston folks get confused when describing Massachusetts after I-495, us "Westerners" would like to see this map.
