Colon to be examined tomorrow

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 7, 2008 03:21 PM

Red Sox manager Terry Francona confirmed this afternoon that Bartolo Colon has had some pain in his right oblique. The starter will come to Boston tomorrow to be examined, and has been placed on the disabled list (though the minor league DL is different from the major league one).

"I think it's more with those types of things, we don't want it to turn into something," Francona said. "There was not a lot of complaining on his side of this. I think it was more the trainers and the medical people in Pawtucket saying, 'Look, he has this, let's stop it.' I don't think this is something you want to deal with for 28, 30 starts if you can put an end to it now."

Colon will miss his next start for the PawSox.

  1. Oblique? Colon? Doubt it. Strained "Roll" maybe.

  1. Phew...when I first saw the headline, I thought this was about a very different medical procedure.
