Ellsbury homers

TORONTO - Toronto ace Roy Halladay has never retired Jacoby Ellsbury.

After the Sox rookie homered in the third inning on a 1-1 pitch, he's now gone 4-for-4 against Halladay in his short career. The type of upper-cut swing Ellsbury took for the homer is precisely the swing the Sox have been wanting the youngster to take in games.

Sox general manager Theo Epstein said in spring training one of the the things Ellsbury needed to do was transfer his BP swing into games. He did that today.

Halladay has not pitched that well against Boston over his career - 9-10, 4.82 ERA in 32 games, 29 starts, before today.

Sox lead 1-0 in the third.
