Excellent starting pitching

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 2, 2008 05:46 PM

OAKLAND - The Sox should have no complaints about their starting pitchers.

Jon Lester pitched 6-2/3 scoreless innings today, allowing three hits with three walks the day after Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched 6-2/3 and struck out nine on Tuesday night in a 2-1 win.

We're heading into the eighth inning. There will likely be no Jonathan Papelbon today after he pitched 1-1/3 innings Tuesday night.
