Extras!

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 30, 2008 08:59 PM

David Ortiz just hit his fifth home run of the season, coming on a 2-0 pitch off Dustin McGowan. The ball landed just over the short fence in right field, before the curve of the park into the right field corner.

It was the Red Sox first extra base hit since Friday, a span of 39 innings. That's a long time...

The Red Sox lead 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh.

Oh, and one out later Mike Lowell added a second extra base hit, in the form of a double to left.
