Harden out

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 2, 2008 05:11 PM

OAKLAND - The good news for Boston is Rich Harden is out after 86 pitches. Harden wasn't quite as sharp as he was in Japan, but not bad either. His pitch count got up in a hurry with four walks and six strikeouts to go along with four hits.

Nice game against Jon Lester, who is also pitching very well through five innings.

Mike Lowell just got drilled in the sixth with an Andrew Brown fastball right at the left armpit. That had to hurt. After securing two outs, Brown walked Varitek and allowed a single to Crisp. He's out now. Alan Embree is in.
