Colon 'tweaks' oblique

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 7, 2008 09:54 AM

The Red Sox will likely have more official word later, but Bartolo Colon has experienced a minor oblique strain, which likely will keep him out of tomorrow's start in Pawtucket, a team source has confirmed.

The Sox don't think it's a major problem. The team might have a better idea later on how long Colon, who was hitting 95 miles per hour on the radar gun in Pawtucket last week, will be out of action.

  1. I have some soreness in my colon. The source of my soreness is unknown, but it occurs every time Bartolo Colon pitches. I hope it is not serious.

  1. Certainly not "encouraging news" but not "discouraging" either. Soreness is likely to be expected as he pushes himself back to real time a little.

  1. I knew things were going too smoothly on the Bartolo front.

Doesn't appear serious? Anything involving this guy has to be considered serious, given his recent physical track record.

Beckett's back wasn't supposed to be serious either, then we find out he had some OTHER injury in addition to the back spasms. Luckily, based on how Beckett seemed to throw (not the results, mind you, but his effort) neither appear "serious," but, who knew about this other problem until just this past weekend?

The Sox are getting like the Yankees...mum is the word on any and everything. Whatever they tell you for public consumption, take with a grain of salt.

I'll believe things aren't "serious" with Big BC when I see him finally take the mound wearing a Red Sox uniform in a game that actually counts.

  1. How can Colon have a "minor oblique strain" with a gut that size?

  1. if our season depends on the comeback of BC, we are in trouble. JB just didn't want to go to Japan. Everything will be fine...
