Jays tie

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 5, 2008 01:51 PM

TORONTO - Clay Buchholz has been curveball reliant in the early going here. He's throwing a real sharp one. He's struck out four through two innings, but allowed the tying run in the second on a Lyle Overbay single to right-center. It's 1-1 but the Sox are threatening in the third.

Buchholz started the second inning by walking Vernon Wells. He then surrendered a bloop single in front of Manny Ramirez. But Buchholz then did some serious pitching. He struck out Aaron Hill and Marco Scutaro on a nice combination of curves, changeups, and a few fastballs.

Buchholz has thrown his fastball mostly between 90 and 91 m.p.h. He did get one up to 92.
