J.D. on fire

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 8, 2008 02:47 PM

J.D. Drew continued his torrid hitting of the early season, sending a single into right-center field. He was then balked over to second base, before Jason Varitek singled, sending Drew to third. Drew scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Coco Crisp.

Drew was 5 for 11 in Toronto, making him now 6 for 12 over his last four games, with a double, two home runs, and 4 RBIs. He also now has hit in each of his five games this season.

The Sox lead, 1-0.
