Julian and Julio....oh boy!

NEW YORK - Well, we wondered if Julian Tavarez could hold the 9-7 lead. Answer: no.

Of course, Julio Lugo was again involved, not in a good way as he threw Melky Cabrera's grounder into the Yankee dugout while trying to turn a double-play in the bottom of the fifth. I will say, Cabrera made a hard-nosed play. He went out of the base line (got away with it) and went right at Lugo who was positioned to the right-field side of the bag. Lugo had to throw off his feet to avoid getting banged up. Probably should have held on to the ball.

Jorge Posada knocked in a run in the four-run inning. Robinson Cano knocked in a run with a single to right and Cabrera's grounder to second got one run in before Lugo's throwing miscue caused the fourth run of the inning to score.

It's 11-9 Yankees. As one Yankee scribe just said, "Don't write your stories yet, Kyle Farnsworth hasn't pitched yet."

Yeah, but LaTroy Hawkins, wearing his new No. 22 (wonder if the crowd will shout "Roger Clemens!") is in the game with Manny Ramirez at first base, nobody out in the sixth.

  1. I'm ready for Jed Lowrie to be our full-time shortstop.......The Lugo experiment needs to come to an end. Lowrie has more RBI's in 1 game than Lugo has all season......

  1. Chad Moeller was the runner out at second. Arguably, Moeller could have been called out for being so far away from second base in his attempt to break up the double play.

  1. Lugo was a mistake on Theo's watch. Take the hit like they did with Edgar, ship him out or sit him down and let Jed in NOW!
