Lester gone

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 14, 2008 09:00 PM

That last walk -- his fifth of the evening -- was the final straw for Jon Lester.

Terry Francona came to the mound to get him, replacing him with Julian Tavarez. After retiring nine of the first 10 batters he faced, Lester came apart in the fourth and fifth innings. He allowed five singles, which led to four runs for the Indians.

Lester, simply, was not good tonight.

It's 4-1, Cleveland.
