Lowell, doctor in the house

Dr. Thomas Gill, the team's medical director, came into the Sox clubhouse around 5:30 and went directly to the office of manager Terry Francona, where GM Theo Epstein also awaited. A few minutes later, an unhappy-looking Mike Lowell walked in and went directly back toward the training room area. Gill shortly thereafter joined him there. Sox spokesman John Blake said no announcement was expected until after the clubhouse closes at 6.
