Lowell pops out

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 25, 2008 07:18 PM

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Mike Lowell broke his bat and popped out in the first inning in his first at-bat against Syracuse righty Kane Davis.

Lowell, on rehab for a sprained left thumb, took the first pitch for a ball and then swung on the second pitch and popped out. He ran back to the PawSox dugout with the bat handle in his hand.
