Marathon Monday

Ok, here's the word.

Terry Francona said Manny Ramirez will keep his day off so to keep on the schedule they have for Ramirez to relax for a couple of days. Ramirez was ejected arguing balls and strikes in the second inning...

Coco Crisp? Not quite ready, according to Francona. Not quite good enough to play yet. Francona also said he never asked Crisp whether he could go into the game in left field in the ninth Sunday when the Sox moved shortstop Julio Lugo there. Francona said he didn't want to put Crisp in that position to feel as if he had to and therefore open himself up to further injury.

Joe Thurston is playing left....

Jason Varitek is sick with the flu. Kevin Cash gets the nod.

Here are the lineups:

CF-Ellsbury
2B Pedroia
DH Ortiz
1B Youkilis
RF Drew
3B Lowrie
SS Lugo
C Cash
LF Thurston
SP Buchholz

Rangers:

2B Kinsley
SS Young
CF Hamilton
LF Bradley
3B Blalock
DH Botts
RF Murphy
C Murphy
1B Broussard
SP Gabbard

  1. How about a nickname for Jacoby..."Cool Papa" after fleet centerfielder Cool Papa Bell. A Big Papi and a Cool Papa! Story about Cool Papa's speed:

Paige also liked to tell a tall tale referencing one hotel at which he and Bell stayed, in which there was a short delay between flipping the light switch off and the lights actually going off due to faulty wiring, sufficient for Bell to jump into bed in the interim. Leaving out the explanatory details, Paige liked to say that Bell was "so fast he can turn off the light and be in bed before the room gets dark!"

  1. I know Tito wants to give Manny his rest, but it's kind of ridiculous resting him again today after yesterday. Especially with a lefty pitching and Manny so hot.

  1. WoW! What a team! You've got to give credit to the Sox fron office for putting together such a great team. Francona can do no wrong with a team like this. 4 starters out and the Sox are still kickin ash.
Francona must be having fun -
