Moving along, at 5-0

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 8, 2008 05:05 PM

We're at the start of the eighth inning here at Fenway Park. The Sox still lead 5-0, since Jason Varitek struck out swinging against Aquilino Lopez to leave the bases loaded in the sixth.

Manny Delcarmen got his out in the sixth, getting Edgar Renteria to fly to center field.

The stands are still packed with fans, even though the game has reached its third hour. I'd guess those in center (in the sun) are having a bit more fun now than those in the shade. There seem to be quite a few chilled fans on the left field side, or behind the back stop. (Then again, hard to argue with those seats.)

The Tigers got through the seventh easily, with Julio Lugo's double play ball erasing Coco Crisp (single) at second.
