Ovations

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 8, 2008 01:38 PM

Julio Lugo just got a tepid ovation from the fans at Fenway. Alex Cora, who came out next, got a better reception.

Not sure if anyone actually realized that Royce Clayton was on this team last year. But he was, briefly. He came back for the ceremony, and actually wore a Red Sox jersey, unlike Doug Mirabelli.

Manny Ramirez jogged out to the table with the rings. As far as we could tell, he did not first stop to admire his fly ball. (Kidding, kidding.) He lifted his arms to bask in the applause.

But the biggest cheers were reserved for David Ortiz, who did a little twirl on the red carpet and swung his hat around his head as he went to get his ring. He got a hug from Tom Werner at the ring table, set up just behind first base.

  1. Royce CLayton was all over the Fox coverage last year, you would have thought he was a starter
