Pauley hits a wall

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 22, 2008 08:02 PM

After retiring six straight, David Pauley allowed three runs in the third.

Jeff Mathis singled home Maicer Izturis, who doubled to right-center to lead off the inning. Pauley looked as if he might escape with only allowing one run when he retired Gary Mathews and Vlad Guerrero on popups. But Garret Anderson stroked a two-run single to give the Halos a 3-1 lead.

Jered Weaver has settled down. He struck out the side (Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, and Manny Ramirez) in the bottom of the third.
