Shields back out

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 27, 2008 04:00 PM

James Shields just got a big ovation for returning to the mound for the ninth inning.

Shields has allowed just two hits and no runs over his eight innings of work against the Red Sox, as the Rays are on the verge of their first-ever three-game sweep of the Red Sox.

Also, if the Rays take this game, they will be three games over .500 for the first time in club history this late in a season. (Yeah, seriously.)

  1. Pretty smug comment (Yeah, seriously.)

We're lookin' at the future here in Tampa Bay, YOU"RE lookin' at the past.

Excuses galore...Big Papi didn't play...Rays have had more players on DL than any team in the bigs!

How do you like them apples?
