Kyle Snyder accepted an assignment to Triple A with the Red Sox, so he will remain with the organization, despite being designated for assignment.

  1. I read on ESPN theres rumors that Snyder may be dealt soon? Is there any truth to that? What would the possible suitors be?

  1. Saw Kyle pitch in Ft. Pierce during spring training and he looked sharp. What happened?

  1. Sorry for not knowing the rules:

    (1) Could he have refused and become a FA if the club can't find a trading partner for him?

    (2) Now does he use a spot on the 40-man roster?

  1. Kyle has proved he can step in and start when needed and is good for an inning or two of middle relief. They will be a time this season when these services will be required and the Sox will glade they have him.

  1. WAG -- He is off the 40-man roster and yes, he could have refused to take the assignment because he's been in the majors for however-many years. It's not like the Lou Merloni Memorial Boston-to-Pawtucket shuttle where he still had options left. Those expire after a certain number of years, which Snyder has exceeded. That's why they had to designate him for assignment rather than simply optioning him back to the minors. I'm frankly surprised he took the assignment since it seemed like there were a fair amount of teams at least mildly interested in him. If the Sox can end up dealing him, I'd say that works out well for them. If they want to bring him back to the majors, though, they'll have to add him back to the 40-man roster as far as I understand it.
