Sox go up, 1-0

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 24, 2008 02:09 PM

Yes, the Sox took the lead. But, no, it wasn't exactly what they probably were looking for.

Manny Ramirez led off the inning with a bloop that fell between the second baseman, first baseman, and rightfielder, allowing him to make it to first. Kevin Youkilis then walked, before Jed Lowrie singled up the middle.

With the bases loaded and no outs, Julio Lugo struck out swinging, followed by an RBI groundout to second base from Coco Crisp.

That left one run in, and men on second and third.

But Kevin Cash couldn't get it done, striking out swinging to end the inning.
