Sox take series

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 14, 2008 12:03 AM

After a bit of lengthy game -- 3 hours, 55 minutes -- Manny Delcarmen came in for 2/3 of an inning to finish the game in the 8-5 win over the Yankees.

Off to Cleveland tonight, the Red Sox just took two games from New York in this early season series, with their bats bashing Phil Hughes early and their pitching doing just enough to keep the Yankees at bay late.

  1. You know, I've followed the Sox for over 40 years. Obviously, Red Sox/Yankees is MUST SEE stuff, and I tuned in pumped for the game last night. However, by the 5th inning, nearly 3 hours later, I went to bed...almost not caring who won. That's how disgusted I was with the pace of the game, and the way Dice K approached a large lead.

What ever happened to THROW STRIKES!?!?!?

I've seen Little League games paced better and more crisply played. That was a horror show.

Glad they won the game, but, I'd rather have several root canals than watch something like that again. At least my bed was 15 feet away from the TV...I pity all the Sox fans who had to sit through that mess at cold Fenway Park...with a working day staring at them the next morning...which is nearly when the game ended.
