Taking on Manny

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff April 25, 2008 10:03 PM

With two outs, and men on first and second, Dan Wheeler pitched to Manny Ramirez. With the game on the line.

Wheeler had already gotten David Ortiz to fly to centerfield, leaving Coco Crisp on second and Dustin Pedroia on first base for the man who is the all-time career leader in home runs, RBI, and doubles against the Rays.

And Wheeler struck him out swinging. On a 91 mile per hour fastball.

It's still 4-4 as we head to the bottom of the ninth. Bryan Corey remains on the mound.

  1. Is something wrong with Timlin? Why didn't he come in after warming?
