Yikes...five runs for the Sox in the fourth

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff April 21, 2008 12:40 PM

Wow. I think I've commented over the past couple of days how poor Texas looks. Granted it's only a snapshot, but the Rangers, who are in danger of falling to 7-13, aren't very good.

The Sox scored five in the fourth. Dustin Pedroia keeps amazing us all with a two-run double to the right-center field gap. Prior to that J.D. Drew walked and Jed Lowrie lofted a bunt over pitcher Dustin Nipper's head. Julio Lugo chopped a single right up the middle through a drawn-in infield scoring the first Sox run. After Kevin Cash was out on a soft liner to second baseman Ian Kinsler, he threw the ball away while trying to double-up Lugo.

After the Pedroia double, Rangers left-fielder Milton Bradley lost David Ortiz' fly ball in the sun, scoring the fifth Sox run on Ortiz' double.
