A's score early

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff May 23, 2008 10:17 PM

The A's got off to a hot start against Tim Wakefield -- especially Frank Thomas.

Yes, you'll remember he loves Wakefield.

Upping his career mark to 1,701 RBI, Thomas just took Wakefield deep on the first pitch from the knuckleballer. It also scored Jack Cust, whose RBI single notched the first run for the A's.

It's now 3-0, with Rich Harden striking out two of the first three Red Sox of the game looking. Thomas now has seven homers off Wakefield in 51 career at bats.
