Awaiting Dice-K pow-wow
SEATTLE - Sox manager Terry Francona is holding meetings with pitching coach John Farrell and his medical staff to assess results of tests performed on Daisuke Matsuzaka's right shoulder earlier today.
The righthander Tuesday night's game before the top of the fifth with discomfort in his throwing shoulder.
Francona said that Matsuzaka showed up at the ballpark Wednesday and said he felt fine. The Sox have not yet made any determination about whether Dice-K will miss a start or be placed on the disabled list until the test results have been digested, and likely not before he visits with Sox physician Dr. Thomas Gill, which could happen in Boston Thursday.
Francona said he was surprised that so many who watched Matsuzaka pitch Tuesday thought he had hurt his side, hip, or back rather than his shoulder. But Francona explained that Matsuzaka often will put his hand on his hip to stretch out his shoulder.
