Beckett ineffective

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 13, 2008 09:13 PM

BALTIMORE - Josh Beckett didn't act like a stopper or an ace tonight. He allowed five runs on 11 hits and left the game with two outs in the sixth, trailing, 5-3. Seven of his 11 hits allowed came after two outs.

The Sox had lost three our of four to the Twins and hoped for a top effort by Beckett, who threw 97 pitches, 65 for strikes. Beckett's line: 5-2/3 IP, 11 H, 5 ER, 2 BBs, 5 Ks.
