Buchholz to DL

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 14, 2008 11:39 AM

The Red Sox placed pitcher Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list with a broken fingernail on his right middle finger.

The Red Sox called up outfielder Jonathan Van Every from Pawtucket to replace Buchholz on the roster. Van Every was needed because of the wrist injury suffered by right fielder J.D. Drew in Tuesday night's loss to the Orioles.

  1. Oh, my wrist! How about a head first dive next time, instead of that awkward attempt. He is so scared of getting hurt, that he puts himself in bad situations. If it was a natural/instinctual attempt on the ball, he would have been fine. What a pansy!

  1. are you kidding me? I know they needed someone for the OF, but a broken fingernail? Hansen could have been sent back down instead.
