Coincidence?

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff May 8, 2008 07:21 PM

Probably just a coincidence, but Josh Beckett just happened to hit the guy who had five hits and the game-winning single last night, in Placido Polanco.

Beckett got him on the left hand with a 94 mile per hour fastball. It was his first hit batter of the season.

  1. Only five hit batsmen in his previous 35 starts. That was no coincidence...and exactly the type of message that you want your ace to send.

  1. Hats Off to JB. Good pitching - good hard-nose baseball.Certainly our guys have been on the other end of those brushbacks and HBP messages.

  1. Why would you hit him on purpose, risk injuring the hottest hitter on the team that will face Yanks for the next series? It does not make sense.
