Dice-K walks the walk

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 10, 2008 07:56 PM

Daisuke Matsuzaka walked in the Twins' lone run in the second inning and it was Carlos Gomez of all people, who never met a pitch he didn't swing at (though Jonathan Papelbon walked him Friday night).

Dice-K walked two batters in the inning and also allowed singles to Delmon Young and Mike Lamb.

In the third, we now know why Japanese pitchers have so much trouble with the American baseballs. Japanese pitchers say the balls here are slippery. Well, Matsuzaka, while delivering a pitch to Justin Morneau, had the ball slip out of his hand and barely made it toward the plate. Pretty funny moment.

It's 1-1.
