Double PPower

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 31, 2008 07:53 PM

BALTIMORE - Dustin Pedroia and Big Papi have hit back-to-back solo shots in the third, tying this one at 2.

Pedroia's, his fourth, was hit to left field on a full count, while Ortiz's 13th was struck to center field on an ill-advised 87 m.p.h. fastball on a 1-1 pitch right down the middle. It was the fourth time Sox hitters have hit back-to-back dingers.

The crowd here had flashbulbs going off a mile a minute in anticipation that Manny Ramirez might make it three in a row and also hit his 500th. But Manny grounded to third to end the inning.
