Game 1 done

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff May 17, 2008 06:58 PM

The Red Sox just beat the Brewers 5-3 in the first game of today's doubleheader. Daisuke Matsuzaka took the win for the Red Sox.

Jonathan Papelbon came in to get the save in the ninth inning, got the first two batters out, then allowed a rocket off the bat of Ryan Braun for a homer. But he got Prince Fielder to end the game.

We'll be back...

  1. That was a line drive homer into the seats, reminiscent of one of Wily Mo Pena's home runs. It was still rising when it went out. I think he's going to earn his paycheck.
