Hall will take a few items from no-hitter

Hall of Fame president Jeff Idelson said moments ago the Hall will be collecting a few items from Monday night's Jon Lester no-hitter.

Idelson said he will collect Lester's spikes, but only "after he's worn all the wins out of them." He'll also get a game-used ball signed by Lester, but not the one that secured the final out because, "we never want to take that ball away from the athlete."

Idelson said he also will collect some of catcher Jason Varitek's equipment, including shin guards and mask and probably a chest protector, but not his glove.

Idelson said Lester donated the cap he wore for Game 4 of the World Series last season.

"It's such a heart-warming story. It's great that such a great moment will forever be on display at the Hall. We're honored to have what Jon and the Red Sox have donated," Idelson said.
