It's official: Matsuzaka on DL

Your faithful Globe correspondent was having difficulty making connections from the clubhouse, but as you've ascertained by now, Daisuke Matsuzaka was placed on the 15 day disabled list with a minor rotator cuff strain. The Sox purchased the contract of infielder-outfielder Jeff Bailey, who is here and could see action this weekend, when the Sox face lefties Garrett Olson and Brian Burres.

The Sox don't need a starter until Tuesday; Justin Masterson, who made his Triple A debut last night and allowed one earned run in six innings, figures to get the call.

J.D. Drew was a scratch against Orioles starter Daniel Cabrera tonight. Manager Terry Francona said Drew had vertigo; Coco Crisp will be in center and Jacoby Ellsbury in right.
