On May 19 against the Royals, Lester became the 18th pitcher in Red Sox history to throw a no-hitter. The 24-year-old lefthander threw 130 pitches and struck out nine. He also earned both his first complete game and shutout.

For the week, Lester went 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 14.0 IP. This is the first such award he has earned in his career

  1. This is stuff fairy tales are made of. Jon is a great example for kids, as well as grown-ups, out there to never give up. As Terry said, he is just such a special person.
