Masterson masterful

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 20, 2008 08:33 PM

It's not no-hitter quality, but so far not far from it. Through six innings, Justin Masterson has allowed three hits and holds a 2-0 lead over the Royals.

Certainly, Masterson's big, sweeping sidearm delivery raises havoc with hitters who haven't seen him before. Scouts attending the game are very impressed with Masterson and feel his delivery is very difficult to pick up, though one of the scouts doesn't think Masterson's sinker is as good as Derek Lowe's.
