Monster day for Youkilis

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 4, 2008 05:08 PM

Kevin Youkilis has driven in four runs today, tying his career high, which he's done three other times. The last one was Aug. 8, 2004 in Detroit.

Youkilis knocked in two runs in the bottom of the eighth to give Jonathan Papelbon a little breathing room - a 7-3 lead. Papelbon got the final out of the eighth and is now making his fourth appearance of 1 1/3 innings, as many as he had all of last season in 59 appearances.

The Sox have also stolen five bases today. Ever thought you'd hear that?

  1. 5 stolen bases? who do they think they are, the '88 Cardinals?

  1. Yes - A Red Sox team that steals 5 bases in a single game (and not a single season) AND actually has gobs of pitching talent waiting to come through the pipeline by season's end (Shilling, Colon, and Masterson all have the potential to step in AND step up)... this is truly amazing.
