M's take the lead

SEATTLE - The Mariners have taken a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first against Daisuke Matsuzaka, who is seeking his ninth win of the season.

Ichiro led off the game with a double to left field and scored on Jose Vidro's ground ball. Matsuzaka made one ill-advised play when he tried to gun down Ichiro going from second to third on Jose Lopez's sacrifice bunt. Ichiro beat the throw.

Raul Ibanez then stroked a double on a ball hit to short left-center that Coco Crisp tried to make a running, diving catch on, but he just missed. It scored the second Mariners run. Matsuzaka really labored, throwing 26 pitches, but he struck out Adrian Beltre and Kenji Johjima to get out of the first.
