Ortiz homers, again

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff May 18, 2008 03:17 PM

David Ortiz just hit his second home run of the game, scoring Dustin Pedroia with his third run of the game. So, in other words, this has not been an auspicious beginning for Mark DiFelice.

It was the 31st time that Ortiz has hit more than one home run in a game. He has done it 29 times in Boston, which pushes him into third place on the all-time Red Sox list, past teammate Manny Ramirez. It was also Ortiz's 235th career home run as a designated hitter. That ties him with Harold Baines for third on the all-time list.
