Papelbon saves Sox win

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff May 31, 2008 10:23 PM

BALTIMORE - Jonathan Papelbon allowed one hit and a walk in the ninth but secured Boston's 6-3 win over the Orioles on the same night Manny Ramirez hit his 500th homer.

The bullpen once again did a nice job after Jon Lester lasted only five innings and threw 103 pitches. The Sox shut the Orioles down over the next four innings with David Aardsma and Hideki Okajima also pitching well.

It was Papelbon's 16th save.
