Red Sox aim to snap out of funk

Posted by Nancy Marrapese-Burrell, Globe Staff May 2, 2008 05:16 PM

The Red Sox head into tonight's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays looking to put an end to their offensive woes. Heading into the game, the team's batting average was .153 (23-150) with four runs and four extra-base hits in the last five outings. That skein dropped the Sox overall team average from .299 to .2778, which is second-highest in the American League behind the Angels (.2784).
